Job Description
OBJECTIVE: To operate and maintain the flour mill under the direction of the Head Miller, sustaining the mission and motto and food safety and quality statement of the mill.
MANUFACTURING
- Maximize milling efficiency in the plant daily by focusing on adjustment and operation of the mill.
- Execute production planning which is given by Head/Chief miller.
- Troubleshoot equipment, optimize the mill and solve flow problems.
- Document production reports and shift reports including process and maintenance issues.
- Report all operational downtimes to the Head/Chief Miller.
HYGIENE AND ENVIRONMENT
- Preform and monitor all sanitations duties as assigned and ensure hygiene personnel on shift perform assigned cleaning duties.
- Ensure full compliance with all organization, regulatory, statutory, safety rules, GMP, QMS, FSMS, 5S requirement.
- Ensure shop floor area is free of weevils and monitor frequent cleaning of workstations and eliminate all dark spots in the system.
- Ensures all cleaning schedules and compliance records, 100%.
- Compliance ratings of all Hygiene, GMP, OHS, EMS, and 5S audits and requirements.
SAFETY
- ZERO Accidents (LTA)
- 250mg max particulate discharge to atmosphere
- Compliance to Daily Pep talk, workplace inspection and Gemba work.
- Minimum of 20 safety reports monthly.
Key Deliverables
COST
- Reduce PM waste to a minimum of 0.5% monthly
- Control and minimize operational and overhead cost within the section.
- Departmental budgeting and accountability by identifying, managing and prioritizing mill operations capital project portfolio.
ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- To provide in-house training for the hygiene team.
- Give on the job training to the milling team as required by supervisors.
- Mentor and cascade knowledge to subordinates.
- Maintain order and discipline within the operational personnel.
- Organize PEP talk and training on 5s, GMP and process.
- Develop and implement the process of RCA and CAPA.
BUSSINESS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Interact with all internal customers such as maintenance, Quality, Evacuation to enhance effective milling scheduling and equipment utilization.
- Make recommendations on new ideas and approach to management.
- To provide a minimum of 1 process improvement every month.
- To reconcile physical stocks versus Sap every day/month.
- Monitoring ALL data entries by operators.
- To achieve 100% implementation of any new system improvement as instructed by head miller.
Organizational Effectiveness
- Vendor management, contracts and cost control for routine services like cleaning, refuse disposal, gardening, and other routine services
- Discuss the costs and performance with external contractors to ensure cheap yet quality service, explore innovative approaches to improve delivery.
- Ensure perimeter and yard areas are well maintained, build an aesthetically pleasing workplace
- Maintain and administer all personnel records and systems relating to employees (excluding records of sickness, absenteeism and holidays, recorded in the general office)
- Coordinate with managers to ensure the safekeeping of all company agreements and financial instruments
- Encourage excellent communication across plant workplace through team briefing, formal and informal discussions. Use multi-channel communication for better outcomes.
- Coordinate with managers to identify personnel training needs. Actively promote training and personal development on site
- Exhibit a flexible approach to working, explore new possibilities.
- Performance of other management tasks may be required for the wellbeing and advancement of the business
Requirements
- B.Sc. Engineering/Food Science.
- Minimum of 4 years’ hands-on experience in wheat milling.
- The candidate should have proven experience in production, milling operations role in flour/feed products, and managed large independent operations
- Excellent people management skills and should be able to lead a diversified team of different nationalities and skillsets.
- Communicate and interface with all levels of the organization and external agencies/contacts including statutory bodies
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple activities concurrently (Multitasking)
- Creativity/ Self Initiative, Teamwork, Communications Skills and Leadership.
- NABIMS, Diploma in Milling from a recognized Milling School.
