Job Summary

Olam Agri Cameroon is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to lead the sourcing, procurement, and vendor management activities across the organization. The role involves defining and executing a strategic purchasing plan aligned with company objectives, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within a multinational FMCG manufacturing environment, with proven expertise in supplier negotiation, contract management, and supply chain optimization. This leadership role requires close collaboration with general management and cross-functional teams to drive value and operational excellence.

Purpose

His/her principal role will be to lead and coordinate all sourcing and vendor management activities, ensuring strategic alignment with company goals. Working closely with general management, they will define and implement a robust purchasing strategy focused on optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance. This role is ideal for a seasoned procurement professional with experience in multinational FMCG manufacturing, capable of driving operational excellence.

Key Missions

  1.  Core Duties
  • Develop and implement the company’s procurement strategy in alignment with business goals and operational needs.
  • Lead the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation, and purchase order management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, production, logistics, etc.) to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of goods and services.
  • Monitor procurement performance through KPIs and ensure continuous improvement in processes and systems.
  • Supervise and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and innovation.

2. Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard strategic suppliers and service providers aligned with quality, reliability, and sustainability standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships and supply continuity.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, audits, and risk assessments to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions while ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical standards.

3. Cost Saving & Value Creation

  • Drive cost optimization initiatives through strategic sourcing, volume consolidation, and alternative supplier identification.
  • Analyze market trends and pricing dynamics to identify opportunities for savings and value creation.
  • Implement relevant models to guide procurement decisions beyond price.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate procurement cost data and insights.

4. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with internal procurement policies, corporate governance standards, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all procurement activities.
  • Promote transparency and ethical practices in all supplier interactions and procurement decisions.
  • Lead procurement risk management efforts, including contract compliance, anti-corruption measures, and sustainability standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering ideally complemented by specialization in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 14 years experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a multinational FMCG or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong reporting and analytics capabilities required
  • Good negotiation and cost management skills

  • Proven ability to develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with and procurement digital tools is a strong asset.
  • Excellent rigor and order, Influencing others
  • Good mastery of Microsoft offices tools, SAP, ProCon or any other ERP systems
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity in all procurement activities, ensuring transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to compliance and ethical standards.
  • Fluency in English and French is preferred.
