Job Summary
Seeking a highly motivated and driven multitasker to join OGA’s African Finance team within the tax function, who will provide regular key tax metrics for key management to make strategic decisions, mitigate risks and plan effectively as well as drive tax policy implementation and processes within the region. The team will propel the company forward with a mindset of preempting and eradicating risks and exposures, encouraging action to bring the business to always maintaining an audit ready state
Job Description
- Circulating a regular tax mis with key metrics across the various tax types
- Drafting and implementation of in country tax policies and the subsequent updating where required
- Documenting of tax sop’s
- Standardized control checks to ensure accurate disclosures
- Assistance with health checks, sample testing and tax compliance reports
- Research into value added initiatives for tax savings to the business
- Analyzing current and past tax data preparing tax mis reports and projections based on this analysis – key metrics, variance analysis, identifying exposures and red flagging adverse events that could impact the business
- Provide detailed analysis and commentary on origins and legal entities on a monthly basis to the OGA Africa Tax Lead
- Dive deeply into tax data and become a subject matter expert to provide additional insights
- Perform adhoc analysis where required to assist in critical decision making
- Active participation in process optimization initiatives for Tax
- Tax savings and Tax optimization initiatives
- Drafting and implementation of in country tax policies and the subsequent updating which will be made available to country controllers, internal, external auditors – to provide guidelines in terms of country’s alignment to local legislative requirements
- Documenting of tax standard operating procedures – which will document elements of the tax submission process in order to ensure continuity and the processes are not person dependent
Profile Description
Must have
- 5 to 6 years of relevant working experience in Tax and Africa Tax specifically as far as possible.
- Chartered Accountant preferred but Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Tax can also be considered

Big4 + Direct tax experience (or) Big4 + GST/VAT experience (or) Big4 + Audit experience
- General knowledge of accounting / tax/ financial / operational principles - basic knowledge of IFRS.
Good to have
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and PowerPoint – preference for candidates with knowledge of Tableau, MS Power BI, VBA, Dashboard Development, Automation, and other data manipulation tools.
General
- Project Management experience would be helpful.
- Strong knowledge of statistical & information analysis, and analytical skills – attention to detail with the ability to identify data patterns and conduct root cause analysis.
- Agile mindset, ability to handle pressure of multiple conflicting timelines, handle multiple iterations, fail fast and focus on developing a “minimum viable product” for modelling to be refined continuously with fresh data over time.
- Ability to make clear and persuasive presentations and reports for the OGA Africa Tax Lead and Africa Regional Controller and other stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude and attitude to thrive in a fast moving, rewarding and dynamic environment – professional conduct required at all times.
- Continuously update skill set, expertise, and technical knowledge by attending the required workshops and courses.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a flair for interacting with multiple stakeholders across cross-functional teams, to drive outcomes and results.
