Grains
Grains is one of the 6 prioritized platforms in Olam The Grains business consists of 4 verticals: Wheat Milling (in sub-Saharan Africa), Origination & Trading (Origination in the Black Sea and Latin America, Destination in the Middle East & North Africa, Prop trading in Wheat/Corn/Soy), Animal Feeds & Proteins (starting in Nigeria, but plan to expand to 4-5 countries in Africa, Asia & MENA by 2020) and Ocean Freight (vessel charter, Prop trading).
Our manufacturing facilities in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and Senegal helping these countries to reduce import costs of refined wheat. With an unrelenting focus on food safety, innovation and cost efficiencies, we produce a range of quality flours for bread, baguettes, pasta noodles, biscuits, semolina, and confectionery.
Job Description
Olam Agri's supply chain is crucial to its operations, and this Branch Manager role in Kaduna, Nigeria, is vital to its success. You will manage multiple product lines (commodity & processed commodity by-products) within the region, overseeing all processes from producer to market.
Key Deliverables
- Strategic Effectiveness: Contribute to business roadmap development and implementation, managing procurement and supply chain strategy for assigned products. Apply sound judgment within established policies, utilizing effective problem-solving techniques. Demonstrate strong financial acumen, including understanding counterparty and credit risk management.
- Operational Effectiveness: Optimize resource utilization within the plant & specifically RM warehouses. Support infrastructure implementation according to the business plan, maximizing capacity and minimizing controllable losses. Coordinate with regulatory bodies to secure necessary permissions and approvals.
- Organizational Effectiveness: Build and develop high-performing teams through effective hiring, training, and development. Provide market analysis to support business trading and positional decisions.
- Collaborative Effectiveness: Collaborate with key stakeholders through formal business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage relationships across peers in the department to ensure product/ region ownership and collaboration to ensure stock availability across plants/ warehouses not under your direct supervision. Management of logistics in collaboration with other Branch, Import & Commercial managers to ensure stock for both internally & externally sourced materials
Requirements
- A proactive & analytical mindset focused on delivering added business value.
- MBA with minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- Strong coaching, facilitation, presentation, collaboration and team-building skills.
- Prior experience in sales, supply chain, and/or operations is highly desirable
