Job Description
The Security Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all security strategies and operations for Olam's facilities, personnel, and assets within. This position demands a highly disciplined and proactive individual with a strong background in security management, ideally gained through military service. The Security Manager will be responsible for mitigating risks, ensuring the safety and security of Olam's operations, and maintaining a secure environment in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, risk assessment capabilities, and the ability to respond effectively to security challenges. The Security Manager will embody Olam's core values, particularly Resourcefulness, Agility, and Collaboration, in ensuring a secure and stable operating environment.
- Security Strategy & Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific risks and challenges in the environment. This includes physical security, personnel security, information security awareness, and crisis management planning.
- Risk Assessment & Threat Analysis: Conduct thorough security risk assessments and threat analyses to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to Olam's assets, personnel, and operations. Develop and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Security Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day security operations, including the management of security personnel (internal and external), access control systems, surveillance systems (CCTV), and alarm systems. Ensure effective deployment and utilization of security resources.
- Emergency Response & Crisis Management: Develop and implement emergency response plans and crisis management protocols for various security incidents. Lead and coordinate responses during security emergencies.
- Liaison with Law Enforcement & Security Agencies: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement agencies, military personnel (where appropriate and compliant), and other relevant security stakeholders.
- Security Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for Olam employees to educate them on security protocols, risk mitigation, and emergency procedures.
- Investigations & Reporting: Conduct thorough investigations into security breaches, incidents, and losses. Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions.

- Effective Emergency Response Capabilities: Development and maintenance of efficient and well-rehearsed emergency response plans.
- Strong Relationships with Security Stakeholders: Positive and collaborative relationships with law enforcement and other security agencies.
- Increased Security Awareness Among Employees: A workforce that is knowledgeable about security protocols and risks.
- Thorough and Timely Incident Investigations: Comprehensive reporting and effective resolution of security incidents.
- Cost-Effective Security Operations: Management of the security budget with a focus on efficiency and value.
- Compliance with Security Regulations: Adherence to all relevant Nigerian security laws and Olam's internal policies.
- Proactive Identification and Mitigation of Security Risks: Anticipating and addressing potential security threats before they materialize.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminology, or a related field. Relevant professional security certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) would be a significant advantage.
- Military Background: Proven and demonstrable military background with a strong record of service, preferably in roles with significant security and leadership responsibilities (e.g., Military Police, Intelligence, Special Forces). Retired military personnel with relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in security management, with a significant portion of that experience gained within a challenging or high-risk environment. Experience in the Niger Delta region is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies.
- Expertise in risk assessment, threat analysis, and vulnerability assessments.
- Proven ability to develop and implement security strategies and procedures.
- Experience in managing security personnel and security operations.
- Knowledge of access control systems, CCTV, alarm systems, and other security technologies.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian security laws and regulations.
- Experience in conducting security investigations and preparing detailed reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in local Nigerian languages would be a significant advantage.
- Other Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license. Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to security incidents as needed. A strong understanding of the socio-political landscape in the country is highly beneficial.
