Job Title- Partnerships Manager

Unit Overview

The Partnerships Manager is a member of the Innovation & Outreach Unit of the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability department. The core roles of the unit are: (1) Donor/ partner outreach, networking, fundraising & management, (2) Catalysing innovative partnerships (technical, business model and financial sustainability) and (3) Internal & external knowledge sharing and promoting next practice.


The Innovation & Outreach Unit identifies grant opportunities and reaches out to donors & partners. They support businesses in designing projects, matching businesses with partners and donors, and writing proposals. They maintain records of all grants. They spur and facilitate the development of partnerships for innovative and transformative programmes across landscapes or material areas, usually closely linked and integrated into the BU business models.  The team identifies and ensures documentation of case studies, learnings, and best practices and disseminates these through various channels, including the Think-in intranet and strategic placement in partner events and communications. They collaborate with the Social Capital & Natural Capital units to develop topical training modules and disseminate trainings.

Role Overview


The Partnerships and Outreach Manager (POM) plays a critical role in engaging stakeholders and securing funding and technical partners to develop and implement impact-oriented sustainability programmes. The POM is responsible for searching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals/ reports supporting Olam Agri sustainablity goals and meeting the funder guidelines and criteria. The POM serves as the primary grant writer/reviewer, manages funders/ donors relationships, prepares reports, and supports special project initiatives. The POM will develop and maintain a master catalogue of projects and grant funding. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills emphasising outcome measurement. The POM brings forward ideas for innovation and scaling-up initiatives that catalyse action towards Olam’s sustainability ambitions to be climate-, nature-, and livelihoods-positive and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)


Strategic Effectiveness

  • Network with partners and identify grant opportunities to meet sustainability goals and priorities

    • Identify, build and maintain relationships with funders and other strategic partners.  Regularly meet with key contacts in partner agencies, or facilitate those meetings with technical sustainability colleagues

    • Research and identify funding opportunities in Asia, Africa, Europe and beyond

    • Communicate funding opportunities to businesses and sustainability colleagues

    • Upload grants opportunities to our internal platform for automated dissemination to businesses

Operational Effectiveness

  • Lead grant proposal development and submission. This includes:

    • Bringing together colleagues from the sustainability function, businesses, finance, and other teams for project ideation, technical inputs and design. 

    • Supporting business to develop and draft quality funding proposals, concept notes and project frameworks focusing on one or more Olam Agri sustainability focus areas within given deadlines and fitting the specific donor requirements

    • Reviewing proposals/ grant application narratives and budget in collaboration with different stakeholders both internally as well as external

    • Capacity-building for internal business sustainability leads to effectively managing donor relationships for which they are responsible, including drafting and writing meeting briefings

    • Working with relevant teams, including the Communications team, to develop communication materials (e.g. 1-2 pagers, presentation decks, press releases, blog posts, workplace and Twitter posts, and other briefing docs) for use by a variety of internal stakeholders when engaging with donors, and for fulfilling partnership communication requirements


Organizational Effectiveness

  • Ensure grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets—taking responsibility for meeting high standards of effectiveness, timeliness, and completeness.  This includes:
    • Facilitate meetings between programme partners, ensuring that grant programs operate efficiently
    • Preparing, or supporting businesses to prepare, compelling progress reports and targeted program updates that fully capture programmatic success in compliance with grant regulations and guidelines.
    • Overseeing compliance with donor requirements  and reporting schedule and ensure any deviations are communicated to both internal and external stakeholders for appropriate mitigation;
    • Supporting the development and implementation of grant processes and practices (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) for effective internal and external reporting and learning.


  • Administer grants and maintain records
    • Collaborate with CR&S colleagues, Finance, Treasury, Legal, and IT to develop/improve the grants administration process and platform
    • Ensuring essential information and documents are appropriately collated, filed or uploaded, such as contribution agreements, Memorandums of Understanding, instalment requests, meeting notes, and communication records;


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in domains relevant to sustainable development, agribusiness and food systems, humanitarian/foundation sector etc.

  • Relevant working experience (a minimum of 3 years) in fundraising, project management, proposal writing, grant management or a similar role

  • Thorough knowledge of the development sector and corporate responsibility and grant-making agencies, particularly in the fields of international development, farming and environment

  • A good understanding of programme development, logical frameworks and Theory of Change frameworks

  • Native or near-native level written and spoken English. Knowledge of French or other languages is a plus.

  • Love working in a multicultural team and collaborating with different people on different projects

  • Strong partnership network and a proven track record of securing grants and designing impactful programmes

  • On-the-ground experience and a good understanding of agri-business models and success factors is desirable

  • Willing to occasionally travel to remote operational areas
