Job Responsibilities
- Execute trades in physical and/or financial commodity markets in alignment with company strategy and risk appetite.
- Monitor global market trends, economic indicators, geopolitical developments, and supply-demand dynamics to identify trading opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, suppliers, clients, and other market participants.
- Analyze market data and use quantitative models to forecast price movements and optimize trading strategies.
- Collaborate with logistics, finance, and compliance teams to ensure smooth trade execution and settlement.
- Maintain accurate records of trades and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on trading performance and market outlook.
- Assess ways of growing our market access through significant local players.
- Set the game plan, lead, and provide guidance for the origination and trading opportunities.
- Coordinate the strategy and tactics with the global head and provide risk mitigation when needed.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a successful trader in agricultural markets with a track record of profitable strategies
- Strong understanding of commodity markets, trading platforms, and financial instruments (futures, options, swaps).
- Market and new business development.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of the cash and physical markets, including the agriculture supply chain
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and in-depth knowledge of financial markets, asset classes, and trading instruments.
- Proactive decision-maker with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
- Excellent knowledge of international trading house operations and other counterparts
- Good understanding of derivatives markets and their instruments
- Ability to run a prop book on the futures market.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue new trading opportunities, expand into emerging markets, and build strategic partnerships to grow the trading portfolio.
Education
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, finance, economics, or a related field
- MBA/Master or PhD is desirable.
