Job Description

Job Title- Climate Action Lead

Role overview

The world is facing a global climate crisis and a global biodiversity crisis, to which unsustainable agriculture and associated habitat loss and soil degradation are huge contributors. Feeding 10 billion people sustainably by 2050, within the planetary boundaries, is the greatest challenge of our lifetime.

With some 2.5 million farmers and 10 million hectares in our supply chains, and our on-the-ground ground presence -- through outgrower programmes, our farms and processing units, and our supply and distribution networks -- OGA businesses can make a tangible, positive impact for people, nature and the climate.

As Climate Action Lead in the global Sustainability function, you will lead our efforts to grow an outstanding global portfolio of Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) based around Olam’s estates and farming operations, and across our highly diverse supply chains; helping to reduce Olam’s greenhouse gas footprint in line with our ambitious Science Based Targets (SBT) for climate, and generating multiple social and environmental benefits in the landscapes where we operate. The NCS portfolio will generate business value through verified Carbon credits and SBT-linked GHG reductions, for use in Olam’s internal carbon exchange, for sale in global carbon markets, and as a commercial offering to customers.

You will work with Olam Business Units (BUs) to improve existing projects and assess new opportunities for NCS across their supply chains and operating sites; act as Olam’s key technical advisor in shaping projects and programmes to deliver an optimal balance of measurable Climate benefits and co-benefits (livelihoods, social and environmental); train and mentor Olam staff involved in project delivery; and support project implementation and monitoring as required.
