Job Description

The Head of Public Relations will shape and deliver communications and media relations to build the reputation and drive external awareness of Olam Global Agri (OGA), as well as support the commercial and operational goals of our businesses. Working as part of a global communications team, this role will be responsible for developing and driving our external communications, media relations, social media and issues management.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, this role will work closely with colleagues across Communications, Employee Engagement Brand and Web, as well as coordinating and advising business leaders within the Company to increase Olam Global Agri’s visibility, amplify its messages and increase its share of voice.

You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues across different time zones. So you need to be smart and efficient in your approach, able to juggle priorities, and have a keen eye for detail and accuracy

Key Deliverables

  • Develop strategic plan to drive effective external communications that support OGA’s strategy and its business goals
  • Lead media relations activities, build and maintain relationships with key media to drive positive coverage, handle and lead responses to media inquiries, act as spokesperson
  • Identify stories and develop compelling content to support the company’s external positioning and business priorities that can be used with media and across multiple channels
  • Lead development of communications materials including press releases, key messages, factsheets, presentations, briefing materials etc.
  • Oversee and develop social media strategy that supports engagement and outreach with external stakeholders
  • Manage agency relationships to support delivery of communications activities
  • As needed lead issues management and crisis response, working alongside communications colleagues, business and functional teams, to manage the company’s reputation and license to operate
  • Counsel and advise leadership on external communications, engagement with media and other external stakeholders
  • Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring and support to communications team members within countries and businesses to drive a coordinated, aligned approach

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent strategic planning and project management
  • Proven media relations experience working with business, trade and national media (print, broadcast, online)
  • Strong understanding of managing social media channels and content
  • Creative thinker who is able to identify and develop compelling content that bring stories to life
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex messaging into impactful, engaging and easily understood language and creative concepts
  • High attention to detail to produce accurate, engaging content within tight deadlines
  • Strong entrepreneurial and hands-on attitude with energy, drive and passion to work within a dynamic and fast-paced international environment
  • Collaborative work ethic, skilled in building and maintaining relationships with colleagues, partners and business leaders in multiple time zones
  • Ability to stay agile and work within demanding deadlines
