We source and produce edible oils to meet our customers’ needs. Our portfolio includes palm, soybean and sunflower oils.

Job Description

The Responsible Sourcing Manager, Food and Feed Origination & Merchandising, plays a key role in ensuring that human rights and the environment are respected across the supply chain, notably of palm oil, soy, and other grains.  The role supports Olam Agri’s wider sustainability goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, achieve 100% deforestation-free supply chains, source raw materials sustainably, and apply best-in-clas sustainability sourcing policies & ESG norms.

The responsibilities of the Responsible Sourcing & Governance Officer include:

Key Deliverables


  • Policy review and execution (e.g.: Sustainable Palm sourcing; Olam Supplier Code)
  • Conduct due diligence of potential suppliers, including analysis of LUC, labour and environmental policies, and practices
  • Monitor sustainability risks, including ongoing monitoring of land use change / deforestation maps
  • Ensure progress toward certification goals
  • Proactively analyse, identify and ensure appropriate follow-up action on compliance issues.

Internal Capacity-building

  • Building internal buy-in, knowledge and capacity to implement sustainability policies & standards in the relevant operations and supply chains
  • Develop communication, training materials and pragmatic implementation tools, targetting procurement managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders


Key Deliverables

Stakeholder engagement & industry representation

  • Grievance management and reporting
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders and developing sector-wide solutions where appropriate
  • Answer queries from internal and external parties on all questions linked to compliance and governance
  • Represent the business on various sustainability councils e.g. RSPO
  • Develop of partnerships and project proposals
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across businesses and departments

Data consolidation, cleaning and analysis

  • Coordinate collection of data for carbon analysis across the supply chain, with inputs factory, logistics, procurement, and finance
  • Coordinate collection of data for workforce sustainability programs, including living wage, workforce nutrition
  • ESG data collection for sustainability reporting, Internal Audit, banks’ risk assessments, and ESG benchmarking
  • Support the implementation of, and reporting on, other Olam Agri sustainabiltiy initiatives as relevant


  • A personal passion for sustainable agriculture and food systems
  • Pragmatic, organised and structured, with strong crtical thinking skills.
  • On-the-ground experience and a good understanding of agri-business models and success factors are highly desireable
  • Experience with product certification systems, monitoring and evaluation, auditing, and capacity-building/training are desirable.
  • Willing to occasionally travel to remote operational areas
  • University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant domain.
  • 3-6+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Indonesian, Malay, Portuguese, Russian or other languages can be hands-on for the role
