We focus on processing and value addition locally within the region we supply. We are amongst the top grain miller in Africa and no 1 pasta manufacturer in Nigeria. We produce a range of quality pasta, semolina and flours for bread, baguettes, biscuits & confectionaries. With strong regional presence in this category across Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Ghana, we produce high quality flour to meet the growing demand for wheat-based products popular amongst African consumers. Our leading brands, Mama Gold Crown Premium Pasta and Supreme Semolina in Nigeria, First choice in Ghana and Senegal and Bijou in Cameroon, comply with the stringent requirements of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and those of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

We’ve build a long-term relationships with customers such as artisanal bakers, industrial users, and consumers.  Understanding their needs and working with them, help us in continuous improvement of our product.  We have several initiatives across the region to improve and empower our customers. Job Description

The General Manager / National Sales Head will be responsible for driving and managing large-scale businesses across both B2B and B2C segments, while closely monitoring the country’s sales and distribution landscape as well as key market dynamics. This is a comprehensive role offering significant exposure to managing a large and complex business.

The position provides the incumbent with a strong platform to build a long-term career within Olam Agri. It entails leading and managing large, geographically dispersed teams to ensure effective execution across the country, along with extensive stakeholder management, both internal and external.

Key Responsibilties

Sales & Business Development  :

  • Developing and implementing sales strategies for increase of market share and profitability on sustainable basis in line with Annual Business Plan (ABP).
  • Delivered growth & achieved target on all key P&L metrics -   volume, revenue

Key Account Management :

  • B2B Sales & Business Development, Product Development, Key Account Handling. Achieve sales in Wholesale Channel.

Operations & Business Management: 

  • Ensure high motivational levels in the team and get the team aligned with the overall strategy that we follow in country
  • Ensure that all the direct and indirect costs for the business are within budgets
  • Counterparty & Credit Risk Management.
  • Play the role of  Olam Grains & Pasta face in the complex regulatory environment.
  • The incumbent must manage the complex regulatory and competitive environment, constantly keeping in touch with the important players to keep herself abreast of the latest in the sector.
  • Bring in innovation and a high level of engagement with all key stakeholders to build on the sustainability issues critical to this industry.

Key Requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience in sales, distribution, or Key Account Management roles, particularly in emerging or upcountry markets
  • Experience managing country-level or product-level business responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of microeconomic and macroeconomic factors impacting business environments
  • Ability to operate effectively in an international business context

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Economics, or a related field 
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is preferred

  • Resilience and ability to overcome challenges while remaining calm and composed
  • Strong ownership mindset with high accountability
  • Willingness to travel extensively to manage geographically dispersed customers
